Bara Brith French Toast


6 slices x ¾-inch bara brith

2 large eggs

1 tbsp caster sugar

½ cup full cream milk

½ tsp pure vanilla extract

Unsalted butter, for frying

Maple syrup, for serving

Preparation Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, caster sugar, full cream milk and pure vanilla extract.
  2. Heat up an 8-inch non-stick skillet over low heat, then melt a small amount of unsalted butter.
  3. Dunk a slice of bara brith into the mixture so that it’s fully coated before putting it into the non-stick skillet.
  4. Allow the toast to cook on both sides until deep golden brown on the surface. Remove from the pan and repeat the process until use up all the ingredients.
  5. Serve with maple syrup.
