Fried Bean Curd with Satay Sauce


8 pcs bean curd (sliced into half diagonally)

Adequate cooking oil

Satay Sauce:

A: (blended)

5 dried chillies (soaked)

5 shallots (peeled)

3 cloves garlic (peeled)

2 candle nuts

B: (mixed with 2 tsp of water)

1 tsp cumin powder

1 tsp fennel powder


½ tsp salt

2 ½ tbsp sugar

70ml water mix with 25g assam paste and discard the seed

75g palm sugar

½ cup water

¼ cup ground toasted peanut

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Heat up some oil in a non-stick skillet, pan-fry the bean curd until golden brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  2. Heat up ¼ cup of oil, stir-fry satay sauce ingredients A and B until fragrant. Add sugar, assam juice, palm sugar and water, bring to a boil. Season with salt, add in ground toasted peanut and mix well.
  3. Add in fried bean curd, let it simmer for a while so that the bean curd absorb some of the sauce.
  4. Dish out and serve.
