Pig’s Trotter with Black Bean Soup

Tested Recipe with Slight Adjustment Adapted from An Inspiring Collection of Hakka Foods



140g black beans

700g pig’s trotter (cut into pieces)

4 slices old ginger

½ tbsp sesame oil

2000ml water


1 tsp salt

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Rinse black beans, drained, stir-fry in a preheated wok without oil over a low heat until fragrant. Add in sesame oil and ginger, toss well until golden brown, dish up.
  2. Rinse pig’s trotter pieces, and blanch in the boiling water, remove, drain well.
  3. Pour water in a soup pot, add in pig’s trotter pieces and black beans, bring to boil. Covered, lower the heat, simmer for 1 ½ – 2 hours, add in seasoning, mix well. Serve hot.
