Turmeric Ma Yau

Tested Recipe with Slight Adjustment Adapted from Madam Wong’s Confinement Dishes



2 pcs ma yau fillet (420g)

Marinade (minced):

45g fresh turmeric

45g old ginger

30g garlic

30g galangal

1 tsp salt


1 tbsp light soy sauce

1 tbsp sugar

100ml water

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Mix fish fillet with marinade and set aside for 1 hour. Remove fish fillet and keep the marinade for later use.
  2. Heat up 5 tbsp of cooking oil in a skillet, pan-fry fish filler until cooked. Transfer fish fillet to a serving platter.
  3. Use the remaining oil to stir-fry the marinade over low heat until fragrant.
  4. Add in seasonings and fried fish fillet and cook for a while.
  5. Dish out and serve.
